2018 Corporate Award

The MADA CORPORATE award is presented to an individual, business, corporation or organization who at the national level, in their professional capacity, created an awareness of the challenges faced by Canada's multiple birth children and their families, and/or have made a significant impact on the multiple-birth community and/or Multiple Births Canada.

The 2018 Winner of the Corporate Award is Dionne Quints Heritage Board.

This group of volunteers came together to form this board and works towards the goals in their mission statement, as follows:

Preserving the birth home of the Dionne Quintuplets and accompanying artifacts within the City of North Bay, for the enjoyment and education of current and future generations.

Developing and fostering community awareness of Canadian history, especially as it pertains to the inter-relationship between women and socio-cultural, socio-economic dynamics in Northern Ontario.

Organizing educational initiatives, social events, fundraising activities to subsidize the cost of the initiatives and other community endeavours.

Sharing Information about Canadian history.

Providing a venue for the general public to aid in the enhancement, authenticity and enjoyment of the experience derived via the activities.

The Dionne Quints Heritage Board of Directors and volunteers worked with city of North Bay to be the organization that manages the home and the artifacts. They were responsible for persuading Parks Canada to designate the birth of the Dionne Quintuplets as an event of historical significance in Canada. This recognition event took place this summer and was attending by Annette Dionne (one of the two surviving Quintuplets). The many volunteers worked countless hours to get the house moved, artifacts installed and continue to fundraise to make necessary updates and landscaping. They are committed to the area, the country and the world remembering and learning from the lives of those five little girls.

This board is has displayed outstanding dedication to preserving the history and gaining recognition of the significance of the Dionne Quints home and lives.
