The Shining Star MADA is awarded to an individual who has displayed outstanding dedication or has been responsible for outstanding accomplishments of local significance in the field of multiple births in a local community in Canada. One Shining Star award will be given out to each MBC Chapter annually.

The winner of the 2022 Shining Star award for Durham Parents of Multiples (DPOM) is Kate Mills.

Kate has been a wonderful addition to the DPOM exec! She has been involved in all aspects of club but where she has truly shined is with membership. Without her DPOM’s membership would not be where it is today.

Kate jumped into the Executive committee head on during the pandemic. She got down to business quickly and respectfully. She was able to take a very outdated list, track down information for lost members, and bring membership fees up to date. In a time of lost income and low activities, she was able to message and chat with reluctant or owing members to encourage them to stick with us.

Kate is also wonderful at building relationships with everyone and awesome at spreading the word about DPOM!
